1st Five is an Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS) program to support primary care providers in the early detection of social-emotional delays, developmental delays, and family risk-related factors in Iowa children 0-5 years old.
1st Five is a public-private partnership bridging primary care and public health.
CHSC is working with Iowa HHS to provide assistance to primary care providers in Iowa's 88 1st Five counties. CHSC medical consultants offer peer coaching and educational presentations, at no cost to primary care providers who practice in 1st Five counties. Medical consultation can be arranged through 1st Five Site Coordinators.
1st Five Educational Webinars for Primary Care Providers
CHSC offers free webinars to support Iowa's 1st Five Healthy Mental Development Initiative.
The purpose of this education series is to provide tools and information for primary care providers and their staff to assist with recognizing risk for developmental delay, assessing family risk factors, and referring to a 1st Five team to meet the needs of the family.
Continuing education credits can be awarded to primary care providers in 1st Five counties thanks to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and its 1st Five Program.
