Some medicines put you at higher risk of bleeding during and after surgery. Please look at the Preoperative Medicine Guidelines for Blood Thinners list you were given. Ask your health care team if you have questions. Please note that many common anti-inflammatory medicines are on the list and should not be taken before your surgery.
After your surgery, do not take any anti-inflammatory medicines, such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Naprosyn (Aleve), and prescription anti-inflammatories, unless your surgeon prescribes them. Do not start taking these medicines until your doctor says it is okay.
You may take Tylenol unless you are told not to do so.
