Jody Reyes named chief operating officer for the clinical enterprise of UI Health Care
Jody Reyes, FACHE, MSBA, BSN, has been named chief operating officer (COO) of the clinical enterprise of UI Health Care. She will begin her new role on June 28 and will report to Brad Haws, MBA, CEO of UI Health Care's clinical enterprise.
Reyes has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience within health care and most recently served as senior vice president and COO at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.
“Jody has a proven track record of being an accountable leader with a reputation for leading multidisciplinary health care teams to achieve great outcomes,” says Haws. “As our health system evolves with the addition of new medical campuses, her experience and leadership skills will be instrumental in guiding our mission of bringing exceptional health care to more Iowans. We’re thrilled to have her join UI Health Care later this month.”
Reyes—a registered nurse who spent most of her clinical career in the oncology setting—served as interim COO at University of Virginia Medical Center before joining the leadership team at Penn State Health. She has also held various senior leadership positions within safety-net hospitals, National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers, and the U.S. Navy.
Reyes was honored by Becker’s Hospital Review as “One of 60 Academic Medical Center COOs to Know” earlier this year and serves as an advisory board member for Vizient’s Chief Operating Officer’s Network.
“I am honored to serve as the next chief operating officer of UI Health Care,” Reyes says. “It is a privilege to join such a distinguished institution known for delivering exemplary health care services with a commitment to advancing medical research and education. I look forward to becoming part of the extraordinary team of health care professionals, caregivers, and physicians at UI Health Care as we build upon the strong foundation in place and navigate the opportunities ahead.”
As COO, Reyes will oversee the management of patient care operations, ancillary services, and related support services at UI Health Care. Working with hospital leaders, department chairs, and others, she will develop and monitor operational strategies that strengthen inpatient, outpatient, and surgical services within the clinical enterprise, which covers multiple medical campuses.
