One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is being able to make a tangible difference in someone’s quality of life. Many of the conditions I treat can have a significant impact on a patient’s day-to-day life, whether that’s recurrent kidney or stone-related pain, difficulty voiding, or living with a catheter. I enjoy getting to know what matters to each patient and helping them understand their options. There is rarely just one “right” treatment for every person. I want my patients to feel that we made a decision together that fits their goals, their health, and their life and helps them return to the things they enjoy.
UI Health Care gives me the opportunity to care for patients with complex urologic problems, serve rural and often underserved populations, and train the next generation of physicians. I was drawn to the breadth of expertise and coordinated care available here, which allows me to provide specialized care to patients throughout Iowa and the surrounding region.
I’m inspired by my patients and the opportunity to provide them with durable, long-term relief. I’m motivated by reducing barriers to specialized care so that more patients can benefit from the treatment they need.
