Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) use interventions to:
Develop self-esteem
Foster successful experiences
Promote skill development
Promote healthy lifestyle choices
Reduce anxiety and depression
Develop coping and stress management skills
Interventions include:
Health and wellness through yoga, weightlifting, meditation, and taichi
Creative expression through painting, music, and cooking/baking
Community integration through the utilization of parks, book stores, libraries, and museums
Socialization through group games and current events
The program provides services to children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. Programming is provided through both individual and group sessions.
Our CTRS plan and implement a recreation therapy program that forms an integral part of the patients' overall treatment programs. They play a significant role in the multidisciplinary team on each unit, which involves physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, social services, physical therapists, and pharmacists.
