University of Iowa Health Care, the Visiting Nurse Association, and the Community Foundation of Johnson County will host its Fall Prevention Awareness Day and Health Fair Event from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at the Visiting Nurse Association office at 1524 Sycamore St. in Iowa City.
The purpose of the event is to help raise awareness about how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults. The 10th annual national Fall Prevention Awareness Day is Sept. 22—the first day of fall.
The theme of this year’s event is “10 Years Standing Together to Prevent Falls.” Activities will include:
Fall prevention tips
Blood pressure checks
Senior fitness screenings
Flu shots (minimal fee)
Medication education by a pharmacist (bring your list of current medications for review)
