UI Health Care family medicine clinic now open in Tiffin
New clinic expands access to primary care in the growing community
University of Iowa Health Care’s new family medicine clinic in Tiffin is now open and welcoming patients.
The clinic, located at 391 N. Kimberlite Street, began seeing patients Sept. 29. UI Health Care leaders, providers, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the opening with a ribbon-cutting event.
“Tiffin is growing very rapidly, bringing more families and more opportunities, but also a greater need for primary care,” says Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, UI vice president for medical affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine. “Today’s celebration is about meeting that need and investing in this community’s future.”
The clinic currently has five providers, with space to expand as the community grows. When fully staffed, it will have approximately 7.5 providers and the capacity to care for about 10,000 patients.
The clinic features 12 patient exam rooms, a procedure room, and clinical lab services and will provide full-scope family medicine care, including prenatal care, pediatric care, adult care, geriatric care, and a variety of common procedures.
“We really do need a lot more health care in this community,” says Jeffrey Quinlan, MD, chair and department executive officer of Family and Community Medicine. “As we continue to grow and as the city continues to grow, we’re going to be here to meet the needs of all the people around.”
