Skin of Color Clinic

UI Health Care's Skin of Color Clinic is one of the few clinics in the nation that offers treatments for skin, hair, and nail conditions unique to individuals of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. We are committed to addressing the unique needs of skin of color patients. Our clinic treats conditions common to people of skin of color.

As the first and only Skin of Color Clinic in Iowa, our consultative approach is to offer individualized care in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. We understand people with skin of color and look at the whole person and not just a specific condition. We work with each individual to find the approach that works for them. 

Located in the Department of Dermatology, the Skin of Color Clinic works closely with the Aesthetic and Laser Services Clinic and Dermatology Clinic.

• Botox injections to reduce wrinkles
• Counseling to help maintain healthy skin and hair
• Electrosurgery to remove dermatosis papulosa nigra
• Laser treatment to reduce hair growth
• Phototherapy (narrow band UVB and UVA) for the treatment of certain skin conditions (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo)
