When the doctor prescribes your new medicine, your specialty pharmacist will try to meet with you during the same clinic visit. If you do not meet with a specialty pharmacist, they will follow up by phone or set up a follow-up visit. We will talk with you about how to take the medicine, how the medicine works, and answer any questions.
Some medicines will take a few days to be approved by your insurance. We let your insurance company know about the new prescription and make sure it is approved.
We will send your medicines right to you or have them ready for pick up at a UI Health Care Pharmacy.
If you have questions, we can help you by phone. After you start the medicine, we call you to make sure you are not having any side effects.
We will call you as refills are needed and to check that the medicines are working for you.
