About Andrea Strayer

Older patients with surgical spine problems over time can do less and less of their usual activities, and have more and more pain. Immobility and pain are preventing them from getting their life back - getting back to normal and doing normal things again. The road to spine surgery is complex. Making the decision to have spine surgery, the experience of having surgery and being in the hospital, and then the road to recovery is not easy. As a clinical researcher, I am working to better understand what we can do to help older patients who need and undergo spine surgery. I want to know what we can do to positively impact the road to and after surgery - preventing complications and supporting older patients so that they can get their life back.
