About Joseph W. Galvin
Joseph W. Galvin, DO, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating patients with simple and complex shoulder and elbow conditions. He treats young athletes and older patients with both arthroscopic and open shoulder and elbow surgery, including anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, elbow replacement, and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. He is also trained in arthroscopic and open shoulder stabilization.
He is actively involved in research involving the genetics of shoulder arthritis and the proteins responsible for post traumatic osteoarthritis. Additional interests include developing a musculoskeletal bio repository for gene and protein discovery.
Galvin received his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, before completing his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center. He completed a Harvard Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Fellowship at Boston Shoulder Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital. As part of that fellowship, he spent three months in France and Switzerland with international shoulder experts. He also completed a mini traveling fellowship at Mayo Clinic Arizona in complex open and arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
