Pulmonary Rehabilitation

University of Iowa Health Care's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program including doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers that is designed for patients with lung problems. The program is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

The program includes a thorough patient evaluation followed by monitored and supervised exercise training, education about pulmonary conditions, and behavior change. Assistance with smoking cessation is provided when needed. The program is designed to improve disease-related symptoms, improve quality of life, reduce hospitalizations, and promote adherence to healthy behaviors.
