Pharmacists within the Department of Pharmaceutical Care provide all aspects of drug therapy management in a wide variety of patient care settings. This comprehensive pharmaceutical care is provided to both acute and ambulatory patients supported by a fully electronic medical record, computerized physician order entry, automated dispensing devices, and bedside barcode scanning of medications. Clinical pharmacists and residents practice on all inpatient care units and in many of our clinics providing a wide range of clinical services and activities as an integral part of the multidisciplinary care team. Additionally, our pharmacists and residents are extensively involved in teaching the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy students.
