About Adnan Al Ayoubi
Adnan Al Ayoubi, MD, PhD, is a board-certified adult cardiac surgeon with broad expertise in adult cardiac surgery. His clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of adult cardiac procedures, with particular experience in advanced heart failure care, ranging from conventional cardiac surgery in patients with low ejection fraction to heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and mechanical circulatory support.
Dr. Al Ayoubi completed his medical and doctoral training through the NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical University of South Carolina, earning combined MD and PhD degrees. He completed an integrated residency in cardiothoracic surgery at University of Iowa Health Care, followed by advanced fellowship training in cardiothoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support at Cleveland Clinic.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Al Ayoubi is actively involved in the education and training of medical students, residents, and basic scientists. His laboratory studies transcriptional mechanisms underlying chronic rejection and vascular disease in heart transplantation.
