I have always thought that the ability for tiny, light sensing cells in the eye to produce an image of the beautiful world around us is truly amazing. This idea, in addition to the importance patients place on having excellent vision, helped guide me to ophthalmology. Good vision is appreciated by all and is recognized as an important factor for maintaining independence and quality of life.
