Investigational Drug Services

The Investigational Drug Service (IDS), operated by the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Department of Pharmaceutical Care, has been a participant in investigational drug studies for over 35 years. The primary goal of IDS is to assist and support principal investigators in meeting their obligations to study patients, the institution and research sponsors by ensuring that clinical trials are carried out safely, effectively and efficiently. Investigational Drug Services assures compliance with all federal, state, hospital, Joint Commission, and IRB regulations concerning investigation medications. Trials cover all phases of research and include industry sponsored, cooperative groups, and investigator-initiated studies.
