Support Groups
Families whose child has heart disease can meet other families through the Heart Friends Support Group. In addition to support, the group holds large social gatherings and seeks to raise public awareness of congenital heart conditions.
We believe parents and family members know their children best. At UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital you are an equal partner on the pediatric health care team. We listen to you and your child so that we can work together to improve your child’s health and well-being.
The group's goals include:
- providing emotional and educational support
- offering supportive social gatherings
- creating public awareness of congenital heart conditions
Interested parents and families whose children are cared for at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital are encouraged to join.

Give now
We are grateful for the many generous individuals and organizations who wish to bring cheer and comfort to our young patients and their families. You often ask how you can help. The biggest impact you can make is through a monetary donation to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital Fund. This fund provides support for the most urgent needs of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
