Our nursing environment empowers the first critical step for nurses to engage in evidence-based practice, to ask questions. Nurses have formal and informal programs and resources to assist them to lead interprofessional teams and improve quality of care.
Nursing research is committed to scientific exploration that leads to new knowledge guiding health care and clinical decision-making. Nurses support the conduct of nursing research through consultation, mentorship, and start-up funding. Research ideas and proposals come from bedside clinicians, nurse managers, and nurse leaders at all levels of the organization.
Quality
Nursing quality promotes a culture of safety by focusing on improvement through various methodologies. We address nurse-sensitive quality indicators, participate in national nursing databases such as the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) and the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), and conduct performance improvement and safety activities at the unit and departmental level.
