University of Iowa Health Care Nursing Student Internship
The Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care is now offering a 10-week Internship Program for nursing students between their junior and senior years at a 4-year nursing program or going into their last semester at a 2-year nursing program.
The program enhances their education and clinical skills as they work side-by-side with a nurse preceptor. The position offers competitive wages, and additional opportunities to shadow nurses in various nursing areas. Program dates for the Summer 2024 Internship Program will begin on May 13, 2024 and May 20, 2024 and will run for 10 weeks (up to 360 hours), with the program closing near the end of July. At that time, Interns will have the opportunity to stay on in an hourly capacity pending area needs.

- Ambulatory Surgery Center
- Behavioral Health Sciences
- Children’s & Women’s Services
- Emergency Department
- Heart & Vascular
- Intensive & Specialty Services
- Medical Surgical Services
- Perioperative Services
Eligibility
Nursing students must meet the following qualifications:
- Must be between junior and senior year at a 4-year nursing program; or going into the last semester at a 2-year nursing program
- Completed an acute care clinical rotation
- Interest in working at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics upon graduation
