Substance use support and treatment during pregnancy

The Maternal Substance Use Disorder Clinic supports pregnant people in cutting down or stopping using substances during pregnancy. The clinic is a unique opportunity to get both comprehensive prenatal care and substance use treatment while pregnant.

The UI Hospitals & Clinics Maternal Substance Use Disorder Clinic can assist with:

  • Tobacco cessation
  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Opioid use disorder
  • Methamphetamine use disorder
  • Cocaine use disorder

Our staff will support you during and after your pregnancy and help you find the resources you need, such as referrals to treatment centers, including medication-assisted treatment.

When you make your first appointment with our clinic, you’ll get a prenatal checkup, and you’ll meet with a prenatal provider and a social worker who will listen to your concerns and discuss the challenges of substance use during pregnancy.

Our goal is to create a safe space so pregnant people can get the help they want or need.

We will work with you to find ways to cut down or stop substance use during your pregnancy so that you and your baby can stay as healthy as possible.
