Places to Eat at UI Stead Family Children's Hospital

We have your eating choices covered. Pediatric patients and their families staying with us overnight can choose from a broad selection of menu items to be delivered to their room. Patients having same-day procedures or clinic visits can enjoy meals in one of our in-house eating areas, or visit one of the dining facilities located within UI Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Dine at Medical Center on University Campus
Medical Center on University Campus also offers several dining options. For convenience, the children’s hospital is linked to Medical Center via public connectors on Levels 1 and 2.

Two vending machines are located on every inpatient floor at UI Stead Family Children's Hospital, one for snacks and one for drinks near the public elevators.

Coffee is available in family lounges and parent respite rooms on inpatient floors (Levels 3, 6, 9, 10, and 11).

The Iowa City Free lunch program is available from noon to 1 pm Monday through Saturday at 1105 Gilbert Ct. in Iowa City.

The Iowa City Free Dinner program is available at the Salvation Army, 116 Gilbert St., in Iowa City. City bus stops near this location (bus fare required). Grab-and-go lunch served from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.  1:00 – 2:00pm, Sunday. Evening dinner served from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday and 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Closed Saturday.
