The Family Medicine-Psychiatry Clinic provides psychiatric care for patients by providers who are trained in both psychiatry and family medicine.
The clinic is staffed by Monika Jindal, MD, and Victoria Tann, MD, who are both board certified in family medicine and psychiatry. The Family Medicine-Psychiatry Clinic and the Family Medicine Clinic are co-located, allowing for easy and productive communication between physicians. Patients receiving care through the Family Medicine Clinic can easily access Family Medicine-Psychiatry services.
Residents who are training simultaneously in family medicine and psychiatry provide care under the supervision of Drs. Jindal and Tann. Family Medicine-Psychiatry Clinic patients receive care as outpatients. Transfer to partial-inpatient or inpatient care can be done through Family Medicine-Psychiatry.
Those receiving Family Medicine-Psychiatry care can expect a one-hour initial visit. In order to better meet a patient’s care needs, this visit will include a number of helpful services such as diagnostic evaluation that looks at symptoms and patient’s history. Any medical issues a patient may have and their current medications are reviewed during this visit. A mental status examination and discussion of treatment recommendations will also be a part of this visit.
Recommendations may include medication and/or referral to counseling or other services. Follow-up care may be with a patient’s primary provider or through Family Medicine-Psychiatry.
