No matter your experience or skill set, you’ll find the career you enjoy and the support you need to succeed and grow.

Join a team that’s working together to change medicine—and change lives.

Why consider a job with our pharmacy?

UI Health Care pharmacies offer professional opportunities for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, clerical and support staff, and students. The Department of Pharmaceutical Care has multiple pharmacies in hospital settings and community clinics. In addition, they have a Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC)-accredited specialty pharmacy and an Investigational Drug Service that supports researchers studying the use of new and existing drugs. You’ll find rewarding career opportunities through one of our many pharmacy positions.

Team-based care

Our pharmacists are part of our interdisciplinary clinical care teams. They participate in medical team rounding, provide pharmacy care in our outpatient pharmacies (including drug monitoring and patient education), and work in various specialty practices such as hematology/oncology and pediatric intensive care. They also act as preceptors for PharmD students from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.

Training, certification, and technology opportunities

Pharmacy technicians work in a variety of areas in the hospital and in retail pharmacy settings. This job requires two years of post-high school education or work experience in a science-related field. You won’t be required to be certified initially, but you’ll earn national certification within one year. We’ll provide on-the-job training and resources to help you receive your certification.

We also have positions available in customer service, accounting, and financial counseling for patients. You’ll work with the newest technologies--hardware, software, interfaces for automated medication dispensing, robotics, and the latest tools and resources in hospital pharmacy.
