Roles and responsibilities

Our medical assistants help deliver the highest-quality patient care by:

Assisting with physical examinations and preparing patients for their visit
Documenting care, medications, and patient history using an electronic health record (EHR)
Performing routine tests and procedures such as:
- Casting
- Dressing changes
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Phlebotomy
- Suture and staple removal
- Point of care laboratory tests
- Pre-clean medical instruments and scopes and prepare for transportation
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens for routine and specialized testing
Administering medications under the direction of a provider
Preparing and routing prescription renewals to the provider
Assisting with pre-authorization and prior authorizations
