UI Health Care respiratory therapists are critical care-focused and an integral part of our multidisciplinary teams, including our Level 1 Trauma Center and a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. With openings in both our clinical and diagnostic divisions, you’ll find a position that matches your interests and career goals.
And as the state’s only comprehensive academic medical center, you'll work with state-of-the-art technology and the most advanced treatment and therapies available. UI Health Care also offers flexible schedules for all three shifts and weekend options, including shift differentials.

The ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) program at Iowa is a platinum-level Center of Excellence, a designation only given to ECMO programs that have reached the highest levels of performance, innovation, satisfaction, and quality. As a respiratory therapist at UI Health Care, you can become an ECMO specialist through specialized training from world-renowned experts in our ECMO program.
If you have qualified experience, you can also receive specialized training to become a member of our neonatal or pediatric transport teams. These teams provide safe air and ground transportation and are equipped to tailor care to the individual needs of every child they serve.
