The Care Team Coordinator (CTC) position is a dynamic part of the ambulatory health care setting. Our CTCs stay with patients through the duration of their visit and perform scribing duties working side by side with the provider. This allows a higher patient and employee experience.

As a CTC, you would also provide essential support by utilizing your knowledge to maximize clinic efficiency and ensure exceptional patient care.


Care Team Coordinators provide skills to the clinical team such as:

  • Leading daily huddles for the team
  • Enhanced rooming; obtaining history of present illness (HPI) and review of systems (ROS)
  • Prepares the clinic note
  • Reviews electronic health record for care gaps; pends clinical orders as appropriate
  • Involved in the patients visit from start to finish
  • Accompanies the provider into the room to assist with clinical documentation
  • Documents the assessment and plan (A&P) during the clinical visit
  • Schedule future appointments, referrals, procedures, and diagnostics

Qualifications to become a Care Team Coordinator:

  • Two years of work experience as a Medical Assistant or other health care provider involving direct patient care, and
  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, or
  • Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating technical patient care elements including but not limited to:
    • Pathophysiology
    • Medical terminology
    • Basic pharmacology and medication administration, including dose calculation
    • Psychology
