Volunteers can be found throughout UI Health Care making a difference in the lives of our patients, visitors, and staff every day. The services provided by volunteers complement the skills of our faculty and staff and improve the overall experience of our patients and their families.
Volunteer Services is committed to recruiting, selecting, and training individuals seeking opportunities to serve as long-term volunteers through our program.
Types of volunteers
If you are a community member over the age of 18 or a UI Health Care staff member, our Community/Staff program would be ideal for you.
If you are an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a career in health care, our College Student program would be the best match for you.
If any extensive service commitment isn’t a good match for you, or if you are part of a group/organization, consider being a Special Project volunteer!
Research shows relationships with animals have a positive influence on health. Our Furry Friends – Certified Dog Visits program in partnership with Rehabilitation Therapies allows patients to experience the joy of a visiting dog, either their own or one certified for hospital visits.
