The Patient and Family Advisory Board (PFAB) is a group made up of patients, families, and caregivers. The Advisory Board plays an important role in the delivery of care within University of Iowa Health Care by keeping communication lines open between patients and families and their health care team.
Goals
Allow patients and families to:
- Give input into health-care practices and programs
- Have a safe place to voice their concerns and give input to their care
- Form a collaborative relationship with the health-care team that is culturally sensitive, respectful, and compassionate
Become a Part of the PFAB
The Advisory Board is always looking for new members to improve care delivery within UI Health Care. The Advisory Board strives to have representatives from a variety of cultures and generations to:
- Talk about barriers to care, treatment, and services
- Suggest ideas and solutions for the care experience
- Give the patient and family perspective
- Plan and better educate other patients and families on support services
Advisory Board
- Are current or past patients, or family members of current or past patients
- Are committed to regularly attending meetings, which are held every other month
- Sign an Advisory Board statement of confidentiality
