Ronald McDonald House and Hope Lodge

Two guest houses are available very close to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for eligible patients and family members.

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City serves families of children up to age 21 who are receiving critical medical care at UI Hospitals and Clinics. Any family traveling from at least 20 miles away is eligible to stay there. Those wishing to contribute may donate $15 to $20 per night for a room, but no family is turned away due to an inability to contribute to their stay.

The house provides all basic linens, towels, and toiletries. All rooms have a private bathroom equipped with a shower and toilet. A nightly home cooked meal is available free of charge to all families staying at the house. Common areas include a library, TV, fireplace, game room, and toy room as well as an outdoor playground.

Families wishing to stay at the Ronald McDonald House should call 319-356-3939 to place their name on the request to stay list. The Ronald McDonald House does not accept reservations, as families are often not sure when their check-out date will be due to unpredictable medical situations. Ronald McDonald House staff will do their best to place your family into a room on the night you request.
