Patients' Library

At the Patients' Library (Elevator F, Level 8), you'll find a quiet comfortable place to read, explore, and learn about your health.

A second library, dedicated to children, is located in the UI Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Patient Education Center

The library houses a number of printed and online resources to help you track down treatment and recovery information for specific diseases and conditions.

The Patient Education Center is a room where patients and families can use the computers or meet with medical staff in a more private setting. To find out about reserving this room, please contact the librarian.

The Patients’ Library also offers access to the TiGR On-Demand Education system with many education videos to watch on channels 30 through 45. The Patient Channel can be found on Channel 3.8 and has many topics that run in a loop each day.

Room Delivery

If you wish to have materials from the library delivered directly to your room, please call 6-2468 on a hospital phone to place your request.

Other Services

The library offers patients a number of communication services, including:

  • Scanning to email
  • Fax assistance
  • Photocopying
  • Printing

Library staff and volunteers can help you download pictures and prepare CarePages, communicating to friends and family the condition of your loved one.
